A common mistake of people venturing into MLM is that they quickly join a company without knowing how much it will cost them in the long run. The most crucial step in a MLM business is the process of promoting your products since this determines how successful you will be with your business. You can immediately start a direct ad campaign for your products or host your products on a website.

Direct traffic to your site and ensure that when your visitor reaches your home page there is something interesting there for them to read. It is also necessary for you to build an email list so that you can keep up with your readers and earn their trust.

My office landlord recently moved me into a spanking-new "green" building. It's equipped with these trendy "waterfree" flushless urinals. Whoever specified these here can't do arithmetic, and clearly never used them before. I can see the point in some situations, but for most places they are a Really Dumb Idea.

For context: here in southern Ontario, when we flush our toilets we sip a little water from Lake Huron, clean it up, then dump it into Lake Erie, thereby slightly reducing the flow through the St. Clair River. The marginal cost of that water is very small, and the electricity to pump it is even cheap baseload (nighttime) nuclear generated.

So, Sloan claims each urinal will avoid using 40,000 gallons each year. Assuming those stunted US gallons, that's 150 cubic meters per year, saving about 0 in actual water cost. Great.

However, that 40,000 gallons represents 80,000 flushes avoided (assuming you would otherwise use a modern low-flush half-gallon urinal). The Sloan system (and business model) uses a disposable cartridge in the drain, good for 7,000 uses, and costing . So the direct cost of using the urinal is a roughly a monthly cartridge change, costing 0 per year, triple the avoided water cost.

Further, since there is no water to flush the drains regularly, Sloan recommends regular "snaking" of the drain to clear out the crystals that accumulate (!). So add the maintenance cost to the tab. (and where do those now-toxic-waste used cartridges go?)

But worst of all, even with the competent heroics of a diligent custodian, the damned things STINK. Which is compounded by the minimum-required air exchange in this "smart" green building.

Finally, did these folks even do the arithmetic before drinking the Kool-Aid? 80,000 uses per year! That works out to one use every 3 minutes in a workplace.

So, with the number of male employees here and the number of urinals, that means I should be visiting the boys room 27 times per day.

I guess I should be drinking more water.
